Basic description

• Main aim of cohort
  A birth cohort study to follow up the health of the citizens in the communities of Dessel, Mol and Retie, with a special focus on impact through lifestyle and environmental pollutants. To monitor environmental and lifestyle exposure and health effects - follow up of 300 newborns till the age of 18.

  Criteria to participate are: Mothers should live in the are Dessel, Mol, Retie. Subject should provide consent to participate in the study (sign Informed consent). The participants have to be prepared to: provide a urine sample during pregnancy. to allow a sample of umbilical cord blood to be taken during delivery or a sample of breast milk after delivery. to have a blood sample taken from the mother during the first days after delivery. fill in the questionnaire in Dutch. provide consent to request medical data from medical records (GP, gynecologist, maternity clinic, kind en Gezin, Center for metabolic diseases). To monitor exposure and health over a longer period of time.
